RESPONSE TO CORONAVIRUS

The Committee has decided to cancel all activities until the end of May.

This decision has been taken in the light of government advice regarding the Coronavirus.

The Annual General Meeting scheduled for Saturday 4 April 2020 will NOT take place.

The AGM will take place at a later date.

The two presentations by speakers scheduled for Saturday 4 April 2020 will NOT take place.

There are two summer activities planned.

On Saturday 6th June we are due to have a guided walk in Skelton and on Wednesday 22 July 2020 a ‘behind the scenes’ tour at Kirkleatham Museum.

We will review whether these proceed in the light of advice received in the next few months.

The Committee has also decided that no committee meetings will take place in the next few months. Instead we will conduct our business – planning for the future – by e mail and other means that do not require personal contact.

Looking Forward ….

On a more positive note, we are looking forward to September when we hope to offer a full programme.

Wondering what to do whilst in Social Isolation? …

We will endeavour over the next few months to maintain the Society Web Site and Facebook pages with news and articles of interest to keep you amused.

In particular we recommend that you take a look at the section on the CTLHS web site called ‘Our Local Area’.

This is populated with lots of interesting information about People, Places, Buildings and Events that have shaped Cleveland and Teesside.

Have a look – you might discover things you did not know!

FINALLY …..

The Committee apologise for any disappointment and inconvenience caused by the cancellation of events, but trust that you will appreciate the exceptional circumstances.

We are acutely conscious that these are difficult times.

Please look after yourselves and your loved ones, and keep an eye out for neighbours and friends.

Take care and stay safe.
