To celebrate the 250th anniversary of the start of Captain Cook’s voyages of exploration the Cleveland and Teesside Local History Society with the Teesside University Centre for Regional and Local Historical Research are having a day school to explore ‘Captain Cook’s Cleveland’.
There’ll be six speakers: Paul Menzies, Robin Daniels, Ian Pearce, Ian Lawrence, Tony Nicholson and Phil Philo.
Between them, they will be exploring life in Captain Cook’s Cleveland, the landscape, Great Ayton and some of the people that Cook knew, as well as James Cook’s youth.

Members of the public – £12
Members of Cleveland and Teesside Local History Society and Cleveland Family History Society – £8.50.
Lunch will be available in the Europa Building for those who want it, if booked in advance. Lunch costs £7.50.
